Transphibian; Veda Beaux Reves

Veda Beaux Reves, or simply Veda, is one of Ireland’s most talented and creative individuals.

Having won Alternative Miss Ireland in 1999, Veda’s career has escalated to unimaginable heights.

Hosting the weekly ‘Space N’ Veda’ at The George Bar is just one of her many talents, having previously performed at Electric Picnic and Milk whilst also listing supporting the Scissor Sisters on tour as a credential.

I have long been enthralled by both Veda’s stage presence and performances but it is her solo material that truly ensnared me.

In 2009, ‘Stars Edge’ landed with incredible resonating tracks including ‘X Plosion’ and ‘Miss You Much (Just A Tad)‘. Few records offer the listener as much humour, culture and beat as Veda’s collaboration with Shirley Temple Bar on ‘Dynorod Man‘.

This week, Veda returns to the charts with the iTunes launch of her new EP ‘Transphibian’. Assisted by a Fund-It campaign, the catalogue tracks have already proved to be a great success among her most dedicated fans.

Transphibian, a term she coined herself, draws inspiration from Fire Island’s ‘Invasian’ and Dublin’s very own ‘Viking Splash Tours’.

The four melodies illustrate a litany of Veda’s experiences, both past and present.

It’s an extremely difficult task to pick just one track as a favourite as each offers drama, emotion and multiple opportunities to get up and dance. Personally, I’m tied between ‘Supermarché’ and title track ‘Transphian’.

Listing the collaborative talents of Gavin Friday, David Hoyle and Paul Ryder, ‘Transphian’ is the ultimate soundtrack for the summer season, whether you’re home or abroad.

Today, the 11th of July marks an exciting event – the official launch of ‘Transphibian’ in Dublin’s The George.

At the gig tonight, for one time only, fans can purchase the EP in a hard copy format featuring the photographic talents of Darragh L Shanahan!

Accompanying Veda on stage tonight will be the ridiculously talented Ponydance, Sparkle Motion and Caoimhe Derwin.

With free entry until 11PM and only two / four euro thereafter, there is absolutely no excuse for being absent!

You can purchase ‘Transphibian’ on iTunes and follow Veda on Facebook & Twitter.
