The phrases ‘statement necklace’ or ‘statement jewellery’ have circulated the fashion domain for over three years with designers such as Christian Lacroix, Oscar de la Renta and Marni each over-embellishing the necklines on their catwalk collections.
Thus, the trend of bold and impressive jewellery has been greatly reflected in the assortment of high street stores.
Today, bloggers and stylish individuals have expanded the trend with accentuating shirt and jumper collars by placing contrasting and sometimes garish jewellery just under the neckline. It works a treat!
With so many pieces available, it would be easy to think that the statement jewellery market is saturated and it could be thought that the possibility of finding a ‘one-off’ piece is impossible.
Enter Folkster!
An online haven of vintage, sequin and Jeffrey Campbell, Folkster is one of my first online pitstops when seeking inspirations and salvation from my sometimes dreary wardrobe.
It definitely helps that models Cici Cavanagh and Lauren Bejaoui make everything look exceptional!

Yesterday, Folkster posted this photograph on Twitter of the new knotted neon statement necklaces which have landed in their ‘just in’ section.
Instantly, I wanted one and at only €16.99 each, I am finding it extremely difficult to convince myself that I don’t need one in each colour.
If I had to pick a favourite…or two, the neon pink and yellow would be where my heart lies.
I have absolutely no doubt that these pieces will be one of the first to sell out in Folkster, so make sure you place your order quickly.
The only question that remains is; how would you style them?

I am in love too honestly they are just the perfect piece for the summer, if we ever get one in Ireland! My fave would be the neon yellow, my favourite colour x
I know exactly what you mean Sinéad but I think they would also be the perfect piece to brighten up a dreary Irish day – rain, clouds and all. How would you style the neon yellow collar?

Gorgeous, love these! x
Totally agree with you Ash. How would you wear one?

That looks like the perfect statement necklace!
They’re pretty amazing. How would you wear one?
- Sinéad
Probably with a black or white dress to really make them pop.
I like your thinking. Monochrome is my mantra for March.
I probably shouldn’t use alliteration as often as I do!
